Bunyips and Dragons - NGV Australia

'Bunyips and Dragons' is a beautiful new exhibition at the Ian Potter: NGV Australia Federation Square which was recently opened on Saturday 25th of July.

This free exhibition features 80 original illustrations that showcase the wonderful visual imagination of Australian illustrators over the past 40 years. Works on display include Ron Brooks’s The Bunyip of Berkeley’s Creek, Peter Pavey’s One Dragon’s Dream, Graeme Base’s The Eleventh Hour, Bob Graham's Greetings from Sandy Beach and much much more!

Parents, carers and children will enjoy the beautiful illustrations on display as well as videos interviewing the illustrators and showcasing live illustrations. The exhibit also features a reading corner supported by the Story Box Library which features iPads loaded with engaging online Australian stories read out by Australian actors.

At the end of the exhibition, little ones get to choose whether they are a dog or cat person, illustrate away, take their masterpiece home or display it. Little Miss was inspired by the great illustrations and tried her hand at illustrating with 'Maggie the Dog'.

The 'Bunyips and Dragons - Australian Children's Book Illustrations' free exhibition is on until Sunday 4th of October at the Ian Potter: NGV Australia Federation Square and is located at the NGV Studio, Ground level. Note: This gallery is closed on Mondays. More info on the NGV website.
