  • Myer Animated Christmas Windows at Bourke Street Mall - The 63rd Myer Christmas Animated Windows in the Bourke Street Mall will open at twilight on Friday 9th November. There will be plenty of fun for the family to enjoy from 6:30pm, as you countdown to the opening of Melbourne's favourite Christmas tradition, hosted by Kids' WB presenter Lauren Phillips at 7:30pm! The storyline of the Myer Windows remains a secret until opening day, however expect to be wowed with the theme based on a renowned and much-loved children's story book. All day.   • Make Believe at Melbourne Museum - Make Believe: The Story of the Myer Christmas Windows is a magical, glittering, experience for children and adults alike, inviting lovers of this cherished Melbourne tradition to reconnect with the nostalgia of their childhood, and offering younger visitors the chance to experience it all with fresh eyes. A feast of magical models, working drawings, beloved books and playful puppets. You will see more than 250 quirky and kitsch characters from windows past, along with sketches, prototypes, props and animatronics. Miniature worlds of wit, wonder and whimsy based on children’s storybooks unveiling the astonishing skill and artistry of the makers and creators.   • Santa’s Christmas Spectacular at the District Docklands - Celebrate Christmas with the whole family in a magical Christmas village atmosphere as Santa’s workshop comes to life in a spectacular fun-filled circus adventure. It’s a fantasy wonderland of live entertainment that will thrill and amaze – starring an amazing world class cast of acrobatic characters performing astounding feats and tricks.   • Santa’s Magical Kingdom at Caulfield Racecourse - This popular event will deliver a Christmas wonderland full of activities to capture children's imagination. Santa’s Magical Kingdom returns this November and December 2018! The magic of Christmas will come alive at Santa’s Magical Kingdom with an interactive walk-through adventure land including everything that you love about Christmas, plus  the Bertocchi International Spectacular Christmas Show that will amaze everyone at Caulfield Racecourse.   • Christmas Projections at Federation Square, Town Hall and Docklands. It's that time of year again, when the city comes alive with glittering Christmas light projections. Melbourne's famous Christmas projections are back with free animated shows illuminated on iconic city locations. Catch the feature show at Fed Square and make your mark on the Yarra Building using savvy 'fingerpaint' technology to control your own vibrant light projection. This year, the Christmas Projections will be at Docklands for those looking to have a night out beside the water. These colourful creations will be unlike the traditional animations and will create a new way to experience the area. Projected onto the 'Silence' sculptures along New Quay Promenade, this interactive experience will bring plenty of festive cheer. Friday 30th November to Monday 25th December. 9pm to 10:20pm.   • Christmas Festival Official Tree Lighting Ceremony at Federation Square - Mark the beginning of the Christmas Festival by welcoming Santa to Melbourne, as he arrives at the new Christmas Square in Federation Square. Roving performers will entertain children and big kids alike, as the crowd eagerly awaits Melbourne's 16m-tall Christmas tree springing to life to launch the festival's celebrations. Expect a dazzling spectacle of roving entertainment from 6pm, with a family-friendly stage show entertaining from 7pm right through to the tree-lighting moment at 9pm.   • Christmas Square at Federation Square. This year, the centrepiece of Melbourne's Christmas Festival will be bigger and better than ever in a new location within Federation Square. Don't miss out on a visit to Melbourne's official festival destination – Christmas Square. Celebrate under the giant tree with sound and light shows every night from 9pm throughout December, or enjoy exclusive concerts on Friday nights.   • Santa’s House at Melbourne Town Hall. Santa's got a brand-new house, adorned with splendid decorations right in front of Melbourne Town Hall. Revisit fond childhood memories and eavesdrop on your kids as they tell Santa about the presents they're hoping to open on Christmas morning. Be sure to snap your free photo with the kids and the man in red. Saturday 1st December to Monday 24th December. Various times. Free. More info here.

  • Twilight Christmas Festival at Rippon Lea - Celebrate the festive season at the Twilight Christmas Festival and 150 years of Rippon Lea! The house will be open for you to explore the rich history of the property and its inhabitants through our new interpretation as well as seeing how the house would’ve been dressed for Christmas at the time. Join in with the local choir as well as family games and craft activities and purchase your Christmas goodies from our market before relaxing on the lawn with a bite from an array of food trucks. Don’t forget to look out for Santa! Friday 7th December 5pm to 9pm.   • Christmas with the MSO at Hamer Hall - Introduce your family and friends to the joy of an MSO concert. Sing along and be part of the action at special moments, watch the Orchestra in full flight, and keep an eye out for Santa, who may just take a break from the North Pole to make a special appearance.   • Baby Love Music Fun Christmas Concert at Library Theatre at the Dock - Join live Mel and her team of musicians from Baby Love Music Fun for an interactive family Christmas music concert. This concert features live singing, piano and percussion with props, puppets and musical interaction from your seat, or if you're lucky, up on stage. There are also spectacular audio visuals that will really bring Christmas to life. Drum along to the Little Drummer Boy, tinsel dance to music from The Nutcracker, pop snowy bubbles during Let It Snow, play Rudolf and jingle your bells. Magical!   • Gingerbread Village by Epicure - One of the city centre’s most popular Christmas attractions, the Gingerbread Village is a wonder for all ages. Spot iconic Melbourne locations including the MCG or MelbourneTown Hall, purchase festive buttery biscuits and remember to make a gold coin donation as all proceeds will go towards the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation. In its new home in Fed Square, the Gingerbread Village features 560 kilograms of gingerbread, 420 kilograms of royal icing, 185 kilograms of marzipan and around 900 miniature Christmas trees.  This year’s Gingerbread Village promises to be the biggest and best display yet!
