Little Kids’ Day In invites kids ages 5 and under and their grown-ups to join us at Scienceworks for a day of robot and coding fun. Little ones will get to explore, create, test, dance and much, much more!

Little kids are taking over Scienceworks for a day of robots and coding fun. Little learners will have fun coding a robot to go on an adventure, dancing the Robo Boogie and seeing one of our amazing Lightning Theatre or Planetarium shows.

STEManiac – Robo Boogie Program

• Tubby the Robot - Tubby will be roving the Scienceworks Museum all day.

• Tycho Goes to Mars - 11:30AM & 1:30PM | PLANETARIUM, GROUND LEVEL | TICKETED, BEST FOR 3+
  Tycho, our favourite cheeky dog with a knack for getting into trouble, is blasting off to discover the red planet, Mars!

• The Mini Weather Show
  12 NOON | LIGHTNING THEATRE, GROUND LEVEL | TICKETED, BEST FOR 3+
  Developed especially for early learners, this Lightning Theatre show experiments with mini versions of weather, including clouds, rain, rainbows and mini lightning, finishing with giant lightning bolts from our Tesla Coil. Please note: The Tesla Coil is loud and can frighten some children. For more information about what to expect, see our social story.

• Robo Boogie
  11:30AM AND 1PM | AMPHITHEATRE, GROUND LEVEL | INCLUDED WITH ENTRY

  Have you ever wanted to dance the robot? Now, you can! And you can learn all about coding while you’re at it. This 15-minute activity uses dance to teach basic concepts of programming. Learn a set of dance moves, and then ‘program’ the dance by rearranging the order of the moves.

• Tiny Tinkerer Space
  10AM TO 2PM | PLANETARIUM FOYER, GROUND LEVEL | INCLUDED WITH ENTRY

  Explore, test, and get your engineering skills into gear in this pop-up space for young engineers to build, create and play. With giant gears, kick bricks, wind tubes, pillow constructions and games, there’s plenty to do.

• Kinder Clubhouse
  10AM TO 2PM | STEM LAB, GROUND LEVEL | INCLUDED WITH ENTRY

  The STEM Lab transforms into a mini-Kinder experience. In the Kinder Clubhouse the best learning happens when you play. Imagination, sensory, craft, movement and open play is all learning in the Kinder Clubhouse.

• Code-a-Bot Activity
  10AM TO 2PM | ENERGY LAB, LOWER GROUND FLOOR |INCLUDED WITH ENTRY BEST FOR 3+

  Program a Code-a-Pillar Blue Bot or Bee Bot and create your own robot adventure. Can you program your robot to zig-zag? Or to crawl through your legs? Or even to reach a strawberry, slice of watermelon or a piece of cherry pie? You code, you decide!

• Book Nook
  10AM TO 2PM | BEYOND PERCEPTION EXHIBITION SPACE, UPPER LEVEL | INCLUDED WITH ENTRY

  If you’re looking for a quiet space, visit us in the book nook. Take a break and curl up with a good story.
