SciencePlay Kids April School Holidays

SciencePlay kids classes are designed to encourage 4-12 year olds to explore science in an accessible, tactile and hands-on way.

Each class runs for around an hour and has 3 experiments/explorations that foster creative thinking, problem solving, questioning, observing, hypothesising and all things STEAM in a fun and MESSY way.
Come along and get your science on!!

We are running sessions in WEEK 1 AND WEEK 2.  Each week is a different topic so please ONLY come to one session each week.

Week 1: Solids, liquids, gasses and all things between. - Thursday 4th & Friday 5th of April 2024

This workshop will see participants exploring the different materials that are solids, liquids, gasses and all things in-between (like sludges, gels, slime, foams etc).
They will mix and make gels and non-newtonian fluids to explore the different properties these materials have.
We will also explore changes between states - melting, freezing, condensation and evaporation.
This workshop will be colourful and messy - PLEASE don't wear nice clothes as you will get colourful!! We provide lab coats and safety glasses for all our scientists to wear, however we recommend that you dress down for the occasion.

Week 2: Who sank the boat? - Monday 8th & Tuesday 9th of April 2024

In this water filled workshop we will be exploring floating, sinking, density, buoyancy and the Archimedes principle.
It will be splashy, very colourful and pretty messy (don't worry, it's our job to clean it all up).
PLEASE don't wear nice clothes as you will get colourful!! We provide lab coats and safety glasses for all our scientists to wear.
