#melbourne REVIEW of Disney’s Beauty & the Beast Musical at Her Majesty’s Theatre - I promised Miss we would see @disneyaunz ‘s Beauty and the Beast the Musical this year, so during our Melbourne trip a few weeks ago, we headed to the stunning Her Majesty’s Theatre to see the show.

This production of Beauty & Beast stayed true to the original Disney script which Disney fans will love. Miss and her brother enjoyed this musical and especially the second act.

I quite enjoyed it as it brought memories of childhood. As one of my favourite Disney movies growing up, coupled with Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson’s iconic 90s duet, I enjoyed singing along to the classics and Belle’s gorgeous dresses gave me goosebumps.

The talented Shubshri Kandiah portrayed Belle beautifully, while we were lucky to have Rubin Matters as the Beast during our matinée. Their chemistry brought the love story to life. Beast’s quirky servants stole the show for me, with Rohan Browne as Lumière lighting up the stage with charm and humour. Jayde Westaby’s Mrs. Potts and her adorable son Chip had such a lovely voice and accent, and Gareth Jacobs as Cogsworth brought plenty of laughs. Hayley Martin and Phoebe Coupe who played Babette (Plumette) and Madame (Wardrobe) were so charismatic and cheeky too! Jackson Head as Gaston added a quirky, almost Ace Ventura-like twist, keeping the audience entertained.

Notes: This production includes theatrical smoke, fog effects, gunshots, violence, and strobe lighting. It’s suitable for general audiences but recommended for ages 6+ due to its full-length musical format.

Beauty & the Beast is on now at @hmt_melb until Sunday 20th April 2025.
