SciencePlay Kids July School Holiday Classes in Altona North

SciencePlay kids classes are designed to encourage 4-12 year olds to explore science in an accessible, tactile and hands-on way.

Each class runs for around an hour, has 3 experiments/explorations that foster creative thinking, problem solving, questioning, observing, hypothesising and all things STEAM in a fun and MESSY way.

We are running sessions in WEEK 2 only. (During Week 1, 2nd-6th July) we will be running free drop-in stem activities at Knox Westfield, 10-2).

Week 2: Magnificent, (and not so magnificent), Microbes!
Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th July.

An all time FAVOURITE session - Microorganisms.

This super messy class explores the unseen world of tiny living things (or are they?) called microbes. We explore how amazing our body is and how it has adapted special tactics to protect us from the ‘germs’ that make us sick. We take a creative (and very colourful) approach to demonstrate how viruses function and get super physical pretending to attack the body’s immune system. Then we get even more hands on (and hands in) in a sticky experiment with enzymes that fight bacteria.

PLEASE REMEMBER it is winter and we are in a warehouse, so please wear warm clothes.

Sessions are held in the "Lab" in Millers Junction. 32 Lobelia Drive, Altona North

An ADULT must accompany children for the duration of the session (60min). If 2-3 children are coming in a group, 1 adult is sufficient (1 per child is not needed.... we just need to make sure that each group or family has an adult that can help with any tricky bits or things that might be challenging in the fine motor skill department - eg opening lids etc)

Booking for SciencePlay Kids classes online (CREDIT CARD ONLY). Classes are $33 per child (plus booking fee). Online bookings are made via credit card ONLY (Visa/Mastercard and AMEX accepted)
