Fun and culture for kids at the National Indigenous Art Fair.

The National Indigenous Art Fair (NIAF) is returning to the Oversea Passenger Terminal on 1-2 July, with more activities than ever for kids to immerse themselves in the oldest culture in the world.

Peter Cooley, CEO of First Hand Solutions Aboriginal Corporation, organisers of the art fair, said there was something for every child and their family to see and do at the art fair.

For kids who enjoy crafting, there’s a chance to join a drop-in weaving workshop with Indigenous weavers from around Australia. These artists will be undertaking a massive weaving project, woven over the two days of the art fair, and young ones can learn about the different weaving methods used by Indigenous people, including net and coil weaving, as they help work on the surprise installation.

And for youngsters who like cooking and trying new foods, there are bush tucker cooking demonstrations focusing on flavourful dishes emphasising Australian bushfoods and spices.

The National Indigenous Art Fair will be held at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, The Rocks, from 10.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday, 1 July and Sunday, 2 July 2023.

Entry is by gold coin donation to support remote artists attending the event.

The Overseas Passenger Terminal is easily accessible by public transport and on foot from Circular Quay.
