If your children have a passion for marine life, sign them up for the Scientist for a Day: Marine Biologist program, a full-day workshop designed for young minds aged 9-12. These school holidays, they will have the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of marine biology and learn about the ocean environment.
The program includes a behind-the-scenes tour of the Australian Museum Research Institute, where they'll meet two brilliant marine invertebrate scientists, Dr Claire Rowe and Beth Flaxman. Prof Shane Ahyonge and Alex Hegedus will also be involved in the program. They'll learn about the animals that live in the ocean, how they move and survive in the big deep blue, and the challenges they face due to climate change.
Throughout the day, they will undertake hands-on scientific experiments, gaining insight into the tools and methods that scientists use to study marine life. They'll have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from the experts, discovering what they can do to help protect our oceans.
This program is a fantastic way to spark children’s curiosity and inspire them to become future marine biologists. So why not give them the chance to be a scientist for a day and experience the wonders of marine biology firsthand?
Please note: some activities and learnings will be similar to our April Scientist for a Day - Ichthyology program. We advise those who attended in April to consider joining our Scientist for a Day - Collection Care and Conservation program.
