With blue skies and new arrivals, spring is officially in the air and what a time it is to explore Taronga Zoo. Discover a brand-new state-of-the-art Nocturnal habitat, meet crawling critters with a new alive show, spot the two Chimpanzee babies as they learn to play and settle under the stars with a blockbuster film at Taronga’s Harbour View Cinema.
From Friday 22 September, guests can explore nguwing nura - Nocturnal Country, Taronga’s brand NEW nocturnal habitat home to an array of rare and night-loving wildlife including the Greater Bilby, Yellow-bellied Glider and Chuditch (Western Quoll) and more. Spanning 100 meters, nguwing nura is an immersive experience where day becomes night and guests are taken on a journey to discover Australian wildlife usually only seen after dark. Situated in the heart of the Zoo, the new experience lets guests marvel at native nocturnal species and gain a deeper understanding of the relationship and connection between First Nations Cultures and Country.
After getting to know Australia’s nightlife keep the fun rolling with a kid’s adventure map to explore Nura Diya Australia. Discover some of Australia’s most miraculous animals, stroll amongst Kangaroos, come paw-to-paw with Dingoes, and walk the tree canopy to see Koalas snoozing in the treetops. Best of all, breath in the fresh harbour air and learn to be a champion of trees and even plant one yourself! For the adventure lovers, Taronga’s Wild Ropes experience lets you take in the animals and view from four amazing high-ropes courses.
Meet insects, spiders, and other incredible invertebrates at Taronga’s new Crawly Critters Alive Show running daily at 11:45am and 2:30pm.
Swing across the footpath to meet the Chimpanzee community’s new arrivals, four-month-old baby Lemba and four-week-old baby Cekiri. Catch the community at their most playful at the daily Chimpanzee keeper talk at 12pm.
With more than 13 daily keeper talks, animal encounters and daily presentations, the kids will be bursting with new information to keep them entertained all school holidays long. Sit back and let the zoo’s expert keepers introduce the kids to the world of incredible creatures from all around the globe.
After a big day of adventures, why not catch a movie under the stars and surrounded by wildlife? Taronga has the October long weekend sorted with its pop-up Harbour View Cinema. Enjoy a movie with family or friends in the heart of Taronga after-dark. With tickets from just $25, the experience includes free parking, and complimentary Zoo Access from 2pm to explore the wild before settling into your seats for an epic flick set to the background of dazzling Sydney Harbour. Sit back to enjoy movie classics such as Harry Potter, Dirty Dancing and Scream, running across Thursday 28 September – Sunday 1 October 2023.
