The June edition of our Disability Led Family Days is curated by We Are Studios and will see their artists take over White Bay Power Station with a series of works, participatory artworks, and performance tours including:
Future Flowers – Artists Ebony Wightman and Maria Macabenta invite participants to join them in creating futuristic flowers made of recycled materials, contribute to a growing installation that will exist and grow from the unlikely spaces within the White Bay Power Station.
Chalk Mural – Over the course of the day artists Richard J Bell and Grazia Napoletano will be building an expansive, participatory chalk mural consisting of concrete poetry (or poetry that is used to create physical shapes and designs), preferred language and coded imagery. Together they will invite children and families to participate, drawing and writing their own sections that will be integrated into the whole.
Performance Tours – Together artists and facilitators Miah Tito-Barratt and Rebecca Sciroli will be sharing a sensorial and kinaesthetic awareness tour, leading children and families through a performative workshop that supports people in navigating their experience, using tactile strategies to find joy and peace in their environment.
Free.
