Hiroshi Sugimoto: Time Machine at the MCA Australia

Time Machine by Hiroshi Sugimoto brings together over 100 artworks and includes rarely-seen pieces from the photographer's own collection alongside works from the Odawara Art Foundation.

Hiroshi Sugimoto is renowned for creating some of the most recognisable images of our time. This major survey is the largest exhibition of the artist’s work to date and his first major survey in the Southern Hemisphere.

The survey includes key works from all of the artist’s major series, including Seascapes, Theaters, Dioramas, Portraits, Sea of Buddha, Architecture, Conceptual Forms, Lightning Fields and Opticks.

Time Machine highlights Sugimoto’s philosophical yet playful inquiry into our understanding of time, memory and perception, blurring the boundaries between the real, surreal and the abstract.
