RANDOM INTERNATIONAL’s Rain Room is a monumental, interactive work that merges art, technology, and nature. A visceral and emotive experience, Rain Room creates a theatrical space that invites each patron to respond to and question their relationship with the installation, and on a deeper level, their relationship with nature and the environment.
One of the world’s most famous contemporary works, Rain Room was first brought to Australia in August 2019 as part of Jackalope Hotel’s ambitious art collection. This immersive experience is a 100 square metre expanse of continuous rainfall. Visitors experience a downpour which responds to your presence and movement, an experience of being consumed by an intense rainstorm, while being completely protected from its forces. Whilst most of Jackalope’s impressive private art collection can be found at the hotel on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, a specially designed Pavilion was created in St Kilda to house this unmissable work. Over 750,000 people have experienced Rain Room globally.
Rain Room is opening its doors again for a third season from 1 November 2023 at the Jackalope Pavilion in St Kilda. Tickets for Melbourne’s most talked about and Instagrammed solo art exhibition are available now.
Rain Room is an immersive art installation that allows you to walk through a downpour of continuous rain without getting wet. Motion sensors detect the movements of the human body as visitors navigate through the darkened space, becoming performers in this intersection of art, technology, and nature.

Allow 25-30 minutes from your ticketed session time to experience Rain Room. This allows for your introduction to the work, 15 minutes inside Rain Room and time to explore the gift shop after.

Wednesday and Thursday 12pm to 5pm
Friday and Saturday 10am to 9:30pm
Sunday 10am to 7:30pm
Child friendly session times are:
Saturday and Sunday 10am to 11:30am and 3pm to 4pm
From 21 December child friendly sessions are available Wednesday to Sunday
