Dragon Boat Festival at Museum of Chinese Australian History

  • Museum of Chinese Australian History (map)

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duan Wu Festival, is a long-established celebration in Chinese culture, traditionally held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. The word Duan means beginning and the word Wu means warmth and radiance.

Come along on these two special festival days when the whole family can take part in traditional Dragon Boat festivities:

- Learn how to make sticky rice cakes (Zongzi).
- Visit the exhibition to go deeper into the customs of the Dragon Boat festival and the story of patriotic poet Qu Yuan.
- Join the Dragon Boat scale colouring activity.
- On Sunday only, view a real Dragon Boat on display in Chinatown Square.
