Melbourne Now celebrates new and ambitious local art and design being made across our creative communities.
Responding to this, students from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) curate a concert inspired by artists exhibiting in Melbourne Now, with a repertoire selected to connect with the themes of the work, performed by ANAM musicians. The second concert responds to Meagan Streader’s Sky Whispers 2023.
Metaphysical, curated by ANAM percussionist and composer Jesse Vivante, explores the impact of ever-evolving emotional and mental states on our perception of contemporary art. Alongside contemporary dancer Niki Tarling, Vivante and his ensemble respond to Meagan Streader’s Sky whispers through a program of world premieres commissioned in response to this artwork, including a new work by Klearhos Murphy.
The Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) is dedicated to training the most exceptional young musicians from Australia and New Zealand. It is a place where musicians fulfil their potential as music leaders, distinguished by their skill, imagination and courage, and by their determined contribution to a vibrant music culture.
