Australia Day at Federation Square

  • Federation Square (map)

Head to Fed Square for a day of free programming, food and giveaways – and a break from the heat of the day.

Sit back and relax in a deckchair to watch a program of video art by renowned First Nations artists, including Amrita Hepi and Jenna Lee, as well as a feature film selected by Birrarangga Film Festival for their 2023 program.

There will be free activities for kids, including screenings of Kangaroo Beach, music-making sessions with Junkyard Beats, and arts and craft activities with Yarn Strong Sista.

There are also free food giveaways (limited numbers available), including picnic hampers from Transport Hotel, burgers by Digging for Fire, sausages from Absolute Bangers, Mabu Mabu salads, and Giovanni’s Gelatos. Quench your thirst with free drinks, from SLURP-IT slushies to Blak Brew iced coffees.

To beat the heat in style, grab exclusive giveaways from Clothing the Gaps and Ochre Sunscreen.

As the sun sets, gather for an evening screening of the Australian Open Men’s Semi Finals.

Australia Day programming presented by Fed Square in partnership with the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
