GIVE KIDS A LAUGH AT THE MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL

With only three weeks until the next school holidays, it’s time to start planning. The Melbourne International Comedy Festival kicks off just as term ends and the program is peppered with performances that cater for the whole family. With the first big weekend landing on Easter – there are fun times and preview priced tickets to be had!

Come and support some of the funniest kids in Australia at the Class Clowns National Grand Final. This one-of-a-kind, national secondary school comedy competition – which is part of the festival’s development program – encourages teenagers to unleash their comic voice through stand-up, sketch, musical or physical comedy. With finalists from across the country coming together in Melbourne for one huge teen comedy bash – there’s no better time to see the next generation of Australian comedy stars.

The (Very) Big Laugh Out (VBLO) returns this year for one very special extravaganza at Fed Square on Good Friday. Running from 1.30-5pm, this is a free event with loads of entertainment from the wackiest and most wonderful street performers, stand-up, physical and musical comedy performers around.

Across the school holidays, dive into the kids’ program with some of the best in the biz:

Comedy Club for Kids brings cheeky holiday fun and LOLs to kids aged six to 12. Delivering bucket-loads of laughs, this one-of-a-kind variety showcase offers a brilliant hour of everything from stand-up and sketch, to musical comedy and circus performers.

Everyone’s favourites, The Listies, are back. Make Some Noise! is an insane mixtape of silly songs, stupid sketches and crazy clowning.

Aboriginal comedy star Sean Choolburra returns to the Festival with Didj & Dance for three shows only at Melbourne Museum!

Unbelievable as ever, Circus Oz bring an irreverent medley of apparently impossible things as acrobats, tumblers, flying, tight rope and slack wire conjure their way into the not-so-everyday world.

See kids favourite Mr Snotbottom explore the science of snot, excite in ewwwy, gooey experiments and giggle at grosstastic gags.

And The Scientwits unleash another rollicking, high-energy blend of science and comedy with Lights, Camera... Chaos!

But it doesn’t stop there, delight the kids with Dr Bubble and Milkshake’s brand-new Bubble Show in Space; go on an adventure with Jon & Jero in a high-energy hour of physical comedy, big characters and improvisation; get scientific at Kaboom! – a brand-new, all-ages electromagnetic extravaganza… and more!

The kids and family program for the 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival runs from Good Friday until the end of the school holidays (Circus Oz runs to 21 April).
