WOMINJEKA! Come celebrate NAIDOC Week 2024 with us on Bunurong land.
Recognising the history and achievement of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander peoples, this event contributes to the movement for our elders and original owners of the land both past and present.
Held across the country from 7-14 July 2024, NAIDOC Week celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Dandenong Market will host NAIDOC Week celebration on Sunday 7 July, from 10am – 2:30pm. Official proceedings start at 10.30am.
The 2024 Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud event references the theme of this year’s week, and is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity and calls for a commitment to justice and equality. It invites all Australians to listen, learn and engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering a society where the cultural wisdom and contributions are fully valued and respected.
The Bunurong Land Council will host a Welcome to Country and Traditional Smoking Ceremony, while the Koorie Youth Will Shake Spears traditional dance groups will perform. Cultural activities will include basket weaving and wood burning.
This event is free and inclusive.
This National NAIDOC Week Activity is funded by the National Indigeneous Australian’s Agency.
