Scienceworks is throwing open its doors for the inaugural Science is a Superpower Festival, a two-day showcase of jaw-dropping live science experiments, expert Q&As with Victorian STEM superstars, and play-based learning experiences – including real Martian rovers, LEGO® feats of engineering and special interactives, workshops and activities galore.
Developed especially for girls and non-binary tweens, and their friends and families, everyone can discover the wonder of science across two days at Scienceworks.

Find calmness in the Planetarium
Relax under the Melbourne Planetarium dome watching stunning wildlife footage from Wild Dwellers while Headspace lead you through a guided mindfulness session.
Then, swing by the hypnotic mechanical Harmonograph and use the power of physics to create mesmerising geometric patterns – and even take your artful souvenir home with you.
Please note: Tycho goes to Mars (11am), Starlight (1pm), and Black Holes (3pm) are also available in the planetarium and can be added to your ticket at checkout.
Test your strength in Sportsworks
How do your strength stats stack up? Pick up your strength logbook and record your data for some special challenges in Sportsworks! Then pop into the STEM lab for a unique hands-on strength investigation.
Explore your curiosity in Think Ahead
Join us for special Ask an Expert sessions where leading women in STEM answer your burning questions on everything from Mars-roving robots to mind-bending astronomy and cutting-edge medicine. Have you ever wondered how people can live on the Moon? What will we eat? How do you scratch your nose inside a spacesuit? Now is your chance to find out. Plus, keep an eye out for your chance to hold a meteorite!
See energy in action during dazzling live shows.
Explore energetic air in our hands-on Air Playground exhibition by building the best ever paper plane and jumping on our giant inflatable! Then book a Lightning Theatre show to see explosive lightning and find out about the energy that glows. Take a break and join free spot talks in the Amphitheatre where comedians and science communicators will be sure to dazzle and entertain.

Discover kindness in the Energy Lab
Sharing kindness with those around us is a marvellous way to create joy. Stop by the Lower Ground Floor to take part in our kind art installation. Write down a compliment, kind word or thoughtful drawing and share it with other festival goers on our Wall of Kindness.
