REVIEW - Australian Premiere of Anastasia the Musical at the Regent Theatre Melbourne.
Anastasia (fittingly) and Renata were super excited to head to the original hit Broadway musical production of Anastasia the Musical last night after waiting all year 🥰
Here’s their review: ”Rumours spread throughout Russia, once the Russian royal family known for being completely wiped out, only for the idea to spark that one princess lived. A young, kind and intelligent girl, heir to the empire, Anastasia. A musical full of not only life and reliving those special moments of hers, but the direction of where she wanted to go, her heart called for Paris. Companions are found, enemies are formed, words are not believed as we follow Anya (Anastasia) in her story. Opening night 28th December Regent Theatre, a wonderful entrance to an even more impressive musical. Voices so strong and powerful, dance and movements that were elegant, and amazing story-telling through both words and song. It was an experience, one that I would love to experience again. ‘Anastasia the Musical’, now starring in Melbourne’s Regent Theatre.”

John Frost for Crossroads Live and Opera Australia today announced that the Broadway hit musical ANASTASIA, will have its Australian premiere at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne in December 2025 before touring to Perth and Sydney in 2026.
Inspired by the mysterious tale of Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov’s rumoured escape in the dawning days of the Russian Revolution, and the 20th Century Fox animated fairytale of the same name, ANASTASIA has been brought to life on the stage by the Tony Award-winning creative team of Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens.
ANASTASIA is a lavish musical for the whole family, transporting audiences from the twilight years of the Imperial rule to the euphoria and exuberance of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman named Anya sets out to discover the mystery of her past.
Pursued by an army officer determined to silence her, she enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family.
