Melbourne Fringe Festival 2025

Melbourne Fringe Festival returns from 30 September–19 October 2025 with an enormous program of exciting, boundary-pushing art.

Whilst Melbourne Fringe is known for its boundary-pushing programs, there are a number of events suitable for the whole family.. Here are some highlights:

  • We Need a Flower - We Need A Flower is a joyful, movement-based performance created especially for babies aged 0–24 months and the people who love and care for them. Inspired by an Italian nursery rhyme, this delicate, wordless work explores the cycle of life and the connection between all things. Through improvised dance, tactile costumes, shifting light and sound, and playful interactions, the performers gently mirror babies’ physical development, inviting curiosity and imagination.

  • Whirlwind - Filled with an array of recycled and discarded paper and fabric, the space is animated by many fans and many hands. Detritus reimagined. The air sweeps and swirls, children dance and ideas whirl. Take a moment to sing with abandon into a fan or lie down to see the gentle arc of a bubble. Join Polyglot performers in hilarious and moving creative play, powered by you!

  • Peter Combe in Wash Your Kids in Orange Juice! - 50 mins of songs and fun from Australia's darling of children's music. Peter sings his well known songs for kids plus a few new ones as well.

  • Sonic Labyrinth - Sonic Labyrinth invites you into an immersive discovery of sound. Climb through a sonic web that looks like a laser maze, listen to hidden sounds with some 'hear muffs', or play a melody on a ‘bone-conduction harp'. Ages 5-13.

  • The MNY - They are hiding all around us - on the sides of skyscrapers and in small scratches on benches. And once you open your eyes to them, you will see their faces everywhere! The MNY is a participative-AR game designed for children’s eyes, ideas and ways.
