The Whale (Free)

  • Arts Centre Melbourne (map)

A larger-than-life puppet experience.

This January school holidays, dive into an extraordinary underwater world on our forecourt with The Whale, an awe-inspiring giant puppet installation from Australia’s beloved Spare Parts Puppet Theatre.

This free, immersive outdoor experience invites you to animate a magnificent 10-metre-long whale and its underwater companions, experiencing the scale and majesty of these ocean giants up close.

Accompanied by storytelling and an enchanting original score, this unique installation invites you on a deep-sea journey inspiring wonder and respect for the ocean’s largest creatures and the natural world as a whole. Discover the vital role whales play in our ecosystem, why they matter to our community, and how we can protect them for future generations.

Audiences of all ages can join the puppeteers to bring these magnificent creatures to life.
