A family favourite celebrating the National Trust’s 70th Anniversary

Join us for a joyful day of family fun as the Teddy Bears Picnic returns to Rippon Lea Estate. Pack your picnic, round up the kids and grandkids, and bring along your favourite teddy or soft toy for this much-loved community event. 

Held across the sweeping lawns and lush gardens of Rippon Lea, the day is filled with activities, creativity, and entertainment suitable for all ages. 

Make the most of the Early Bird Offer and secure your tickets before 31 December and save 20%. This event supports the National Trust’s work to preserve Victoria’s heritage

Event highlights include:

  • Live reading of Elm & Willow’s Adventures at Rippon Lea: Teddy Bears’ Picnic

  • Elm & Willow Adventure Trail through the estate gardens

  • Teddy Tailor Shop craft activity (BYO bear; recycled materials provided)

  • Drawing Workshops with Elm & Willow illustrator Joleen Jenkins

  • Face painting and old-fashioned lawn games

  • Fairground & Pony Rides ($8/ride or 3 for $20)

  • Live brass band performances throughout the day 

All activities are designed to be family-friendly, relaxed, and affordable—perfect for parents, grandparents, and children enjoying a day outdoors.

  • Times: 10am - 3pm (gates close at 5pm)

  • Location: Rippon Lea Estate

  • Helpful Information 

    • Bring your own picnic, rug, hats, sunscreen, and reusable water bottles (Water taps available)

    • Prams are welcome across most of the gardens. Some areas of uneven ground may be unsuitable.

    • Limited shade is available; consider bringing your own umbrella or sun shelter

    • Sausage Sizzle, Coffee Cart and Food Trucks available for extra snacks and refreshments

    • Please supervise children at all times

    • We recommend using public transport to get to the event. Rippon Lea Estate is well served by Bus, Tram and the nearby Rippon Lea Train Station.
