Breville Boss To Go Plus - Review
We had some super-smooth fun with the Breville Boss To Go Plus recently! Designed with Heston Blumenthal, this blender's motor and blade system is very powerful making smoothies super-smooth.
We didn't waste time and tested the Boss To Go 'like a boss' and made some tasty smoothies!
First up, we made a Watermelon Zinger which we made using watermelon, freshly squeezed orange juice and ginger. The result was a refreshing juice with a little zing to it from the fresh ginger. Great for colds this winter to keep those little dry throats hydrated and a great source of Vitamin C with the orange!
Next, we went superfood smooth with a Superfood Smoothie by making an LSA mix from scratch first which is a super quick blending of linseeds, sunflower seeds and almonds in the milling container. We then added the LSA mix to some frozen Australian blueberries, coconut flakes and coconut water and voilà! You can add LSA mix to your diet to boost your energy daily as it has many benefits. Try adding it to breakfast cereal, muesli, yoghurt, smoothie or in bread, cake, muffin or cookie recipe or anything really!
We went a bit left field and made Tandoori chicken paste with the Boss To Go milling container as it was the perfect size for the ingredients we had, saving up on washing too and done in seconds! Measuring ingredients took longer!
And finally, we made a green smoothie inspired by the people over at Simple Green Smoothies which consisted of Kiwi, Banana, Apple, Coconut water and wait for it Baby Spinach! The Breville Boss To Go is known for its ability to blend fruits, vegetables and nuts which changed our smoothie world as we know it!
We were a bit worried about blending vegetables but we used an easy green vegetable to start with like baby spinach which is sweet. Less than 1 minute blending and our first green smoothie was made and it actually tasted really nice! The idea with green smoothies is to start with 30% leafy greens and 70% fruit and slowly building up to 70% greens over time. Adding greens to smoothies feeds the body with maximum nutrients. We will try superfood Kale with our smoothies soon and let you know how we go.
Unlike Heston Blumenthal's food making green smoothies is not rocket science with the Boss To Go Plus and it's very quick and can be done in 4 easy steps: choose your leafy greens (baby spinach, cos lettuce, bok choy, parsley, microgreens, cabbage etc), choose your liquid (coconut water, almond milk, rice milk, dairy, tea, soy milk and green juice), choose your energy booster (antioxidants, omega 3 fatty acids or ph and alkalinity) and lastly choose your fruits or an extra sweet, herbal or zesty notes with the addition of dates, blueberries, honey, maple syrup or mint, coriander, basil or parsley or ginger, lemon, mint and lime.
We loved playing with the Boss To Go, it's quick and easy to make a great smoothie and you can take it with you to school drop offs, work, playgroups, friends' house to share a green smoothie, you name it!
