Osmo Pizza Co - Review

Little Miss always wanted to try out Pizza Co so she was so excited when we were gifted this kit to try out. She took no time to get started and run her own pizza shop while the owner was away on holiday!

Little Miss started making pizzas from customers’ orders in no time adding customer requested toppings, laying pizzas the way customers like it, making sunflower or happy pizzas, making 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas or making plain cheese pizzas. Once the toppings are on, she slides the pizza into the pizza oven for cooking and serving to customers. It can get quite busy during rush hour making several pizzas at a time and dealing with customers when accepting orders and dealing with payments and that’s what makes it so much fun!

During the making process, her customers rate her pizzas as it happens to give her ratings to aim towards set goals, money goals and decor goals.

After the customer has finished his/her pizza, it’s time to pay and deal with money to go towards earnings and expenses. It’s a great way for kids to use their numeracy skills, count and give change back to customers.

You can choose to deal money in notes, dollar coins or cents coins (via the app settings) which adds some complexity for children but a great way to learn.

After a day of making pizzas, receiving feedback & reviews from customers and dealing with money, it’s time to see the earnings and expenses! A great idea to demonstrate income and expenses to kids. Little Miss was wondering why the grocery person was charging her for the ingredients, she understood with the breakdown in earnings. One of her goals was to make enough money for rent which she achieved during several days of making pizzas at the shop.

As a reward for her earnings, she was able to buy some decor items to improve the pizza store. Users can also buy a pizza oven for the store once sufficient earnings have been reached.

The kids really enjoyed reviewing and playing Osmo Pizza Co, it is such a fun game with teaches kids 5 to 12 years basic business skills, works on their arithmetic and fraction skills when making 1/2 pizzas and the like and they learn to work with money using notes and coins when giving change to customers. They also learn how to deal with earnings and expenses and how to interact and satisfy customers and deal with pressure during rush hour and how to deal with feedback. A great game all round which I know the kids will keep playing for some time!

Osmo Pizza Co comes with a pizza board, 40 money tiles and 48 toppings. You need your own iPad and Osmo Base to play this game.
