Pretty Woman The Musical at Theatre Royal Sydney - Review
We loved attending the Sydney Premiere of Pretty Woman The Musical this week! The crowd was super excited to see how the iconic 90s romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere would translate to the stage and so were we!
After some red carpet and pre-show photo fun, Christine from Adventure Baby and I headed into the theatre ready for the performance.
The main cast on the night featured Samantha Jade as Vivian Ward, Ben Hall as Edward Lewis, Michelle Brasier as Kit De Luca, Tim Omaji as Happy Man/Mr Thompson and Douglas Hansell as Philip Stuckey, with Jordan Tomljenovic as Giulio the hotel porter. Checkout the full cast and ensemble here.
Samantha Jade and Ben Hall were perfectly cast as this iconic couple. The spark was definitely there with these two and we could feel it as their relationship became more serious. Samantha Jade’s vocals beautifully balanced her softly spoken voice and she brought plenty of humour to the role and making her instantly likeable. Ben Hall was simply stunning in this role with a gorgeous voice, and his character grew on you more and more as the show progressed.

Michelle Brasier as Kit De Luca (Vivian’s friend) had incredible vocals on the night and we loved the attitude to match! Kit’s story takes a slightly different path from the film, which was a nice surprise.

Tim Omaji as Happy Man/Mr Thompson was multi-talented in this role with flawless vocals and impressive dance moves, but no spoilers here. I will just hint to the fact that his partnership with Jordan Tomljenovic as Giulio, the hotel porter, kept the laughs coming! Jordan Tomljenovic was a very funny hotel porter, I couldn’t stop laughing in parts!

The special appearance of Rebecca Gulinello’s stunning soprano voice in the opera scene from the film was an absolute highlight, giving us goosebumps with her incredible performance and leaving the crowd in awe.

The ensemble vocals, music, and iconic song had us on our feet by the end of the show, perfectly finishing a performance that brought all the nostalgia of the original back to our hearts. Don’t miss Pretty Woman The Musical at the Theatre Royal Sydney!
