Sensory-Friendly Sundays - Access Program at the Australian National Maritime Museum

Enjoy a modified environment to suit people on the autism spectrum and with a range of differing abilities.

Enjoy a comfortable environment for kids and adults on the autism spectrum and visitors with a variety of access requirements.

Sensory Friendly sessions will include early access to our new exhibitions, our submarine HMAS Onslow, and activity areas will be open extra early for a quieter experience and modified to suit people on the autism spectrum and with a range of differing abilities.   
Our trained staff and volunteers will be on hand to facilitate creative activities.

In November and December early access will include new exhibitions Blueback and Ocean Photographer of the Year

In January early access will include new exhibitions Ocean Photographer of the Year , Valerie Taylor, and Octopus Garden- digital playscape

PROUD TO SUPPORT THE SUNFLOWER

The museum supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower. The Sunflower is a globally recognised symbol for non-visible disabilities. 

You are encouraged to bring and wear your sunflower lanyard if you have one, or pick one up for free on arrival to the museum.

Staff who have had training to support visitors with Hidden Disabilities will also be wearing a sunflower badge or sticker.

Cost: $12 child/ adult

Children under 4 and members: free/annual pass holders free

* Min height 90cm for entry to Action Stations and vessels
