Night Owls: An autism and sensory-friendly night out for adults at the Australian Museum

  • Australian Museum (map)

Dress up and visit the Australian Museum after hours in a controlled sensory, relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

Night Owls provides an exclusive, fun night out for those who prefer to visit the Museum in a controlled sensory, relaxed and supportive environment. With a curated program designed for an adult audience, Night Owls helps to make visiting the Museum easier for autistic people and for those who have other access requirements.

For this Night Owls, we will have a wide range of fun activities and experiences for visitors. There will be the chance to test your skills with arcade tabletop games, express yourself with face painting and meet the Museum's resident Muttaburrasaurus, Winny. You can have a dance at the Silent Disco or learn some new moves at our Silent Disco Dance Class. Some of the nation’s leading STEM experts will sit down with science communicator Lee Constable to answer your burning questions.

You will be able to buy tickets to see our newest exhibition, Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs. To purchase tickets to see Ramses, you must select the 2024 Night Owls + Ramses ticket option during registration. The exhibition will be adjusted with 50% less capacity and the volume and lights will be turned down. You may purchase tickets at the Admissions Desk on the night unless sessions are sold out prior. Entry to the exhibition is timed and capacities are limited, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
