Powerhouse Castle Hill and the Community Migrant Resource Centre presents a free day of music and dance performances, workshops, tours, drop-in activities and fun for people of all ages, inspired by the local community.
PROGRAM
Magic Performance 10am
Be amazed by a spellbinding magic performance from Fun Incursions, perfect for all the family.
Indian Dancing with Nikhil Goyal 11am and 2.15pm
Experience the vibrant energy of Indian dancing with a captivating and interactive performance with Nikhil Goyal’s Group.
Lucky’s African Drumming 11.30am and 1.50pm
Enjoy an exhilarating and interactive performance by Lucky’s African Drumming that will get the entire family moving.
Bubble Performance 1pm
A mesmerising Bubble Show by Fun Incursions that will enchant all ages.
Storytime in-Language with Lost in Books 10.30am Arabic, 11.30am Farsi, 1pm Vietnamese
Listen to stories in different languages to learn new words and join us after for a short craft session related to each story.
Rangoli with Community Migrant Resource Centre 10am–3.30pm
Learn the traditional Indian decorative art of Rangoli. Make patterns made with colourful ground rice and take home a small creation.
Community Hands 10am–3.30pm
Join this craft session and add your hands to a communal artwork inspired by the Reconciliation Ship float.
Dance Party 2.30pm
Practice your new dance moves inspired by Lucky’s African Drumming and Nikhil Goya’s Group and dance the afternoon away at the fun-filled Disco Party hosted by Fun Incursions.
Mystery Object Challenge 11.30am and 2.30pm
Calling all budding historians, archaeologists and those with curious minds. Drop-in and test your sleuthing skills in this family friendly activity to see if you can identify some historic mystery objects.
Mars Rover 1.30pm
Meet our quarter-scale Mars Rover Curiosity. Rovers specialise in exploring the red planet to collect samples and images. Hosts will be available to answer questions and talk about autonomous robotics.
Family Tour: Collection Highlights 11am, 1pm and 3pm
Are you curious to discover the hidden stories behind the Powerhouse Collection? Explore the museum on this tour and hear about the objects on display and some surprising insights they hold.
Family Tour: Collection Storage Collection 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm
Have you ever wondered what happens to the Powerhouse Collection when it is not in an exhibition? Explore the museum's newest collection storage facility on this family friendly interactive tour.
