From 6th July to 13th October at the Australian Museum in Sydney, this Best VR Film at Cannes and Los Angeles Film Festivals 2022 winner will take visitors on one of the world’s greatest against-all-odds adventures.
Thin Ice VR is a 22-minute film and exhibition that reimagines the challenging journey of Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew during the ill-fated Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, and brings to life Shackleton’s journey of perseverance, leadership, and survival.
Besides the main event, participants can also join the Antartica Explorers, Breakfast Behind the Scenes talk with Thin Ice VR creator Tim Jarvis on 30 August, or the Eureka Talks, Antartica discussion with Tim Jarvis and senior researcher, Antarctica Division, Dana Bergstom, hosted by journalist Jackson Ryan on 31 August.

Note: Thin Ice VR is a family friendly exhibition, however, for children aged 8 and under, parental discretion is advised. Supervising adults who are not participating in the VR experience will be admitted without charge. Thin Ice VR has a running time of more than 20 minutes, and younger children may find VR headsets difficult to sustain for the duration of the video. All viewers have the option to remove the headset at any time and can continue to enjoy the film on the large screen without the VR element.
