Sensory-friendly Hive (Free)

  • Art Gallery of New South Wales (map)

Join us from 9am on Sunday 19 January 2025 for a sensory-friendly early-entry visit to the Art Gallery of New South Wales as part of Hive Festival.

This is an opportunity for visitors who may benefit from a calmer, quieter environment to experience the Art Gallery with reduced sensory stimuli. There will be no public announcements and quieter activities during the first hour of the day in both our buildings, Naala Badu and Naala Nura.

You can also drop in to a sensory-friendly creative workshop – including Flights of fancy with Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro, Dreaming on the picnic blanket with Bonnie Huang, and Birthday card wishes by Hikoko Ito – or a sensory storytime in the children’s art library.

This event may suit people on the autism spectrum and those living with disability, dementia, a mental health condition or chronic illness. All ages are welcome. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
