Design a streamer-style kite in this hands-on workshop developed with artists Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro.
For this creative duo, a kite is a marvellous object that inspires daydreams and encourages imaginations to take flight.
In this workshop, the artists invite you to take inspiration from koinobori, a type of kite traditionally flown on Children’s Day in Japan, but our designs will highlight the birds that live in Sydney, particularly around the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Use your own imaginative flair and creativity to create a kite that celebrates Australian wildlife. You may choose to add it to an installation in the Art Gallery’s Learning Studio that will continue to grow throughout January.
Drop in to the workshop any time during the listed hours. Materials and instructions are provided. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
The workshops on 18 and 19 January 2025 are part of Hive Festival at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Find out more.
