Surviving Australia (Free) (Reviewed)

  • Australian Museum (map)

REVIEW - Surviving Australia at the Australian Museum. We checked out the NEW and reimagined Surviving Australia exhibition last week and loved the NEW look and exploring each immersive zone!

Journey through Prehistoric Australia’s ancient giants, the Enduring Bush’s resilient wildlife, the Red Centre’s extreme desert survivors, Our Island Home’s marine wonders, and Big City Life, where animals adapt alongside us.

Permanent and free (next to the Dinosaurs Gallery) on level 2.

Ready to discover Australia's wild side? The new and reimagined Surviving Australia exhibition is now open - bigger, bolder, and more thrilling than ever!

Discover Australia's most fascinating creatures, including giant wombats that moved across ancient landscapes and fanged kangaroos that stalked prey. Learn exactly how large a bull shark can grow as it patrols the oceans, then uncover how frogs sustain suburbia. This exhibition boasts new fossils, life-sized displays and interactive elements.

Step into prehistoric worlds ruled by mega-predators. Explore marine environments where survival means outwitting apex predators. Learn how First Nations' conservation knowledge, such as cultural burning, sustains Country.

With climate change and human impact reshaping survival rules, precious species have to fight for their future while delicate ecosystems hang in the balance. Learn how together we can rewrite a happier ending to this survival story.
