Symphony of the Dreaming (Free)

Step onto the Museum of Sydney’s forecourt and immerse yourself in a breathtaking experience of light and sound that brings the ancient songlines of Country to life. As part of Vivid Sydney 2025, this dynamic work by artists Alison Page and Charlie Chan is designed to transport audiences into the rhythms of nature, awakening the deep connections between land, sea and sky.

In the Dreaming, ancestral beings imbued the land with their perpetual energies, linking sacred sites through an intricate web of songlines. These songlines crisscross the country, forming a vast archive of song, dance and story, a Library of the Dreaming that remains alive through continuous renewal.

As you move through the artwork, the energies of Country awaken around you. Light and sound vibrate with the presence of Country, responding to your movement and proximity, and to ambient sound, to create a unique, ever-changing experience for each visitor.

Symphony of the Dreaming is a dialogue between two Australian artists, Dharawal and Yuin artist Alison Page and creative technologist and composer Charlie Chan, exploring the Aboriginal connection to Country and its relationship with light, rhythm, sound, energy and place.

More than just an artwork, Symphony of the Dreaming is a living experience, one that invites you to step inside and become part of the story. Feel the pulse of Country, engage with its energies and help bring the symphony to life.

Symphony of the Dreaming is part of the official Vivid Sydney 2025 program. The artwork is on display nightly, from after dark until 10pm. During Vivid, opening hours at the Museum of Sydney are extended until 8pm.
