REVIEW - RELICS: A New World Rises at the Australian Museum.
There’s still time to visit RELICS: A New World Rises at the Australian Museum before it closes on 1 February 2026.
Created by 2020 LEGO® Masters winners Jackson Harvey and Alex Towler, this immersive exhibition invites visitors of all ages, including kids, teens, adults and families.
We loved exploring the exhibition and immersing ourselves amongst 14 vintage museum displays that have been reimagined and rebuilt entirely using LEGO® bricks. The kids and I completed the kid and adult versions of the Scavenger Hunt and enjoyed discovering answers and interesting details along the way. Mister loved the vintage fridge turned cryogenic health resort and the Beetle car especially. Miss loved the LEGO® Friends area and I just loved everything - so impressive looking at all the LEGO® characters hidden away!
The interactive build area at the end of the exhibition was also a highlight. The kids built their own LEGO® creations and displayed them alongside others.
Tip: Download the audio description guide from the museum’s website to your device before arriving and bring your own headphones. Don’t forget to bring a pencil(s) to complete the scavenger hunt(s).
Vintage objects meet miniature LEGO® worlds in RELICS, an extraordinary exhibition created by LEGO® Masters winners. Opening 16 August at the Australian Museum.
Discover intricate LEGO® civilisations thriving inside treasured objects from our past.
A vintage refrigerator becomes a cryogenic health resort, a typewriter transforms into a newspaper headquarters, and a Volkswagen Beetle houses an energy revolution—each with hundreds of hidden stories waiting to be uncovered.
Exhibition Highlights:
14 large-scale displays combining antique objects with original LEGO® constructions
Created by LEGO® Masters winners Jackson Harvey and Alex Towler
Layered storytelling that rewards curious minds of all ages with details and discoveries
An interactive LEGO® build zone where visitors can create and display their own models
Custom scavenger hunt with different versions for children and adults
This is not your typical LEGO® exhibition. RELICS is an immersive art experience that's equal parts nostalgic and thought-provoking - what creator Jackson Harvey describes as "the love child between an antique shop, The LEGO® Movie, and Blade Runner."
Don’t miss a LEGO® exhibition like no other - where forgotten objects tell extraordinary tales of a possible future.
