A bold, joyful and thought-provoking celebration of African cinema returns to Sydney from 4 to7 September 2025 at iconic venues including the Sydney Opera House and Riverside Theatres.
The 2nd edition of Africa Film Fest Australia, coming to Sydney Opera House on 4-5 Sept 2025 and Riverside Theatres (Parramatta) on 6-7 Sept 2025.
Organised by Arts and Cultural Exchange (ACE) and a team of African Australian curators, the dynamic program reflects the cultural resilience and diversity of voices in the African subcontinent and diaspora.
Opening the festival on the 4th will be the gripping comedy-drama I Do Not Come to You by Chance by Nigerian director Ishaya Bako, based on the acclaimed debut novel by novelist Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani.
In addition to screenings, there will be celebrations, workshops and forums, including the exciting 2-day Creating New Worlds: Building Worlds, Characters and Stories visual storytelling workshop led by Nigerian animation director Somto Ajuluchukwu and Sydney-based illustrator Steph Martei.
