Three years ago, we welcomed you to a world alive with Van Gogh’s vibrant blues, golden yellows, and sweeping brush strokes. Now, due to overwhelming demand, VAN GOGH is back—and we couldn't be more excited. 

Opening Boxing Day, this bohemian blockbuster returns for a limited summer season; once again you can immerse in the vivid, emotional brilliance of one of history's most iconic and influential artists. With an even more stunning Sunflower Room and a world-first virtual reality experience (read more below), the return of Van Gogh will be everything you loved from before and so much more.

Finding Vincent in Virtual Reality

Imagine not just admiring Van Gogh’s iconic works but walking among them as you stand under a swirling starry night sky. THE LUME Melbourne is proud to present the world premiere of Finding Vincent, a groundbreaking virtual reality experience that redefines immersive art.

Journey through Vincent’s world alongside his brother, Theo, in an interactive narrative that takes you beyond the canvas and into his life and art like never before. This is immersive art in a way you never dreamt you could experience.

  • Sunflower Room - Step into a boundless realm where Van Gogh’s iconic sunflowers stretch endlessly in every direction as vibrant yellows and golden blooms float between floor and ceiling, creating a mesmerising kaleidoscope that defies the senses.

  • Artists Studio - Step into Van Gogh’s world and unleash your creativity in this interactive space. Guided tutorials lead you through the techniques behind his most iconic works, inviting you to explore your artistic talents while reimagining the subjects that defined his genius.

  • Vincent’s Bedroom - Step inside the heart of Van Gogh’s world with this immersive recreation of his famous bedroom. Experience the artwork from within, as you stand in the very room that inspired one of his most iconic and intimate masterpieces.

  • Starry Night Photo Room - Step into Van Gogh’s masterpiece as his iconic Starry Night transforms into a fully immersive space. Surround yourself with swirling stars, rolling hills, and luminous moonlit skies, capturing the magic of one of art’s most celebrated landscapes.

  • Art Play: Wheatfields - In this 360-degree interactive cylinder room, your movements bring Van Gogh’s wheatfields to life. As you move, the landscape mimics your actions, transforming the walls into the famous wheatfields, swaying and shifting with every step, inviting you to become part of the artwork itself.

  • Ages: There is no minimum age to visit Leonardo da Vinci - 500 Years of Genius and child-friendly dishes are available at the café. All children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible person. Baby change facilities are available inside the venue. A dedicated parents room is located near the MCEC Customer Service Desk.

  • Location: THE LUME Melbourne is located at Melbourne Exhibition Centre, 5 Convention Centre Place, South Wharf. It is next to the Novotel Hotel and across the road from DFO South Wharf. To find Lume, head here.

  • Warnings: THE LUME Melbourne experience does not include smoke, haze or strobe lights. While the projected images and animations within the experience are slow-moving, if you are sensitive to moving light or have been diagnosed with photosensitive epilepsy, please be advised that some moving light may trigger motion sickness, vertigo or seizures in some people.
