Opening 1 April, ROME: Empire, Power, People brings the drama of an ancient superpower to Melbourne Museum in a Melbourne-exclusive showcase of over 180 treasures from the Imperial era.
From the intrigue following Julius Caesar’s fall to the spectacle of the gladiator arena and the rhythms of everyday life, the exhibition reveals a civilisation of ambition, brutality and brilliance. Original statues, mosaics, frescoes and intimate personal objects combine with immersive scenography to paint a vivid portrait of the people who built and lived within the Roman Empire.
