[Melbourne] The Ants are Marching On - Melbourne Museum's Antopia will close on Monday 10 March 2025

Don’t miss out on your chance to experience the magic and awe of Antopia before it closes on Monday 10 March. Melbourne Museum invites families and their curious kids to celebrate nature’s little giants with a closing weekend of brilli-ant activities on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 March.

The interactive adventure is perfect for little kids who like to have big fun. They’ll experience what it’s like to be the size of an ant and enter the underground universe of an ant colony brought to life with luminous swirls of colour, multisensory installations, interactive projections, atmospheric soundscapes and stunning imagery.

Blending science, creativity and rich in STEM-centered learning, the tiny ant has big lessons to share including communication, cooperation and teamwork. 

Inside Antopia, visitors participate in the daily activities of the colony, from the bustling activities of worker ants, to cultivating food in the fungus farm, joining scouts on outdoor expeditions, caring for the next generation of ants in the nursery and communicating with the queen in her chamber. 

Families looking to upsize their Labour Day long weekend can visit Melbourne Museum for a complimentary suite of f-ant-astic activities on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 March including, interactive story time sessions, puppet performances and hands-on craft making.

At IMAX, Bugs 3D: Micro Monsters brings the incredible superpowers of ants, scorpions and beetles to the giant screen until Monday 10 March. Come face-to-face with some of the natural world’s most incredible creatures – Australian Green Tree Ants that build intricate nests, massive Goliath Beetles locked in an epic battle for a mate and a luminescent Scorpion who dances under the moonlight, all in epic 3D.
