Children's Week 2015 Events - Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November 2015
National Children’s Week recognises the right of children to enjoy childhood. Every year events take place across Australia focusing community attention on the needs and achievements of children and young people as they learn and grow.
To help you celebrate, we have found some great events for you and your little ones to attend!
Thursday 22nd to Saturday 24th October (10am to 1pm) - Book Swap Bike organised by Tot: Hot or Not, Highpoint Shopping Centre and Footscray Arts. Bring a preloved book to the mobile bike library to swap for a new one to take home. Also drop in for a zine making craft activity. FREE.
Saturday 24th October (10am to 2pm) - Kids' Day Out organised by Moreland City Council. A day of fun activities for children including entertainers, circus workshops, outdoor games and healthy food. FREE.
Sunday 25th October (9am to 5pm) - Children's Week at Werribee Open Range Zoo organised by Werribee Zoo. Children can immerse themselves in a fun, interactive experience while learning how to be 'extinction fighters' helping animals around the world and in their very own backyard. Children will go wild with the Amazing Drumming Monkeys performing at various times 11am, 1pm and 2pm. FREE however general admission applies. Check the Zoo's new Bush Babies Safari Trial while you're there designed with busy toddlers and strollers in mind.
Sunday 25th October (10am to 4pm) - Children's Week Picnic at Werribee Park organised by Moreland City Council. A fun day of activities for children including entertainers, children cooking classes, face painting, roving performers, craft, games and more. FREE.
Sunday 25th October (11am to 2pm) - Children's Week Fun in the Park organised by Moonee Valley City Council. A fun day for the whole family at Queens Park with the Funky Monkeys' interactive circus show featuring live music, magic, storytelling, circus and hip hop workshops and more! FREE.
Monday 26th October (10:30am to 11:30am) - Children's Week at Melbourne Library Service organised by City of Melbourne. Children can take a magic journey with The Flying Bookworm where they are the stars of the show! The Magic Journey programme emphasizes participation and even puts some of the audience in starring roles. Everyone will be able to participate in the performance. For children 0 to 5 years old. FREE.
Wednesday 28th October (10am to 2pm) - Romp & Stomp Fun Day for Children organised by Museum Victoria. Melbourne museum will come alive with children’s artwork, music, dance, fun and laughter. Children can play their way through creative and exciting sensory play stations and activities designed to inspire, teach and promote the importance of early childhood development. Included in Museum entry or FREE for members.
Wednesday 28th October (9:30am to 12pm) - We love Grandparents organised by Moonee Valley City Council. Kids can bring their grandparents along at Crown Street Stables for morning tea and fun activities with story time, face painting, playdough, bubbles and more! Free and suitable for children 5 and under. Checkout our review of Crown Street Stables and playground.
Friday 30th October (5:30pm) - Movie Night organised by Moonee Valley City Council. Kids can embark on an hilarious pre-historic adventurous with a free screening of The Croods (PG) also at Crown Street Stables. FREE but bookings are essential.
