The Children's Library at the State Library of NSW - Sydney - Review

The State Library of NSW recently opened their Children’s Library in mid October this year. This gorgeous space was purpose built for children and families to explore children’s books and experience the joy of reading. Kids can browse an engaging collection of some of the best children’s and youth literature from Australia and around the world.

Kids will enjoy wondering through the maze-like Children’s Library located on the Lower Ground 1 in the Macquarie Street Building of the State Library of NSW. They will find a range of books for kids 0 to 16 years old.

Much to Little Miss’ surprise, the books stay in the Children’s Library, so they are available for anyone to read when they visit. You don’t need a library card to browse these books.

It is a nice place to retreat from the busy city streets of Sydney city and my little Busy City Kids really liked the space and the reading nooks setup all around the Children’s Library.

There is also a Family Space where you can drop in and enjoy books, toys, puzzle and dress-ups and see kid friendly art exhibitions. The Family Space is open for pre-schoolers and their carers and is open until 5pm every day.

Don’t miss Scout the chatbot at entry level, it’s a cute robot who has been designed to help kids find books that match their interests. Make sure you grab a Kids Activity Book and the Kids & Family Booklet while you’re there too. Lots of tips and tricks and things to do while you’re visiting the main library as well as the Children’s Library. We love the NEW Children’s Library, a fantastic addition to the State Library of NSW!
