KAWS:PLAYTIME at the NGV Melbourne - Review - Melbourne
Kate and her little ones popped into KAWS: PLAYTIME today at the National Gallery of Victoria for a play and loved exploring this colourful kids installation created especially for kids and families to coincide with the artist's exhibition KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness.
Brian Donnelly aka KAWS, one of the most prominent and prolific artists, who straddles the worlds of art, fashion and design to include paintings, murals, street and public art, sculptures, fashion and more recently opened his exhibition KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness at the NGV in Melbourne.
KAWS: PLAYTIME was inspired by a character created by KAWS called BFF, BFF may remind you of a cartoon character or a puppet you’ve seen on tv, does it have feelings?
KAWS: PLAYTIME invites kids to create a special message by using a touchscreen and camera, wear BFF’s features, choose what they like, record a video portrait, and have lots of fun doing it too! How super cute does Kate’s little ones look as BFFs!
This kids installation definitely delivers the goods in terms of styling and pop!
Visitors can also make a friend for BFF by exploring BFF's world and his feelings. BFF looks lonely or sad, cheer up BFF, draw a friend for BFF and share it with friends.
Kids can also write their name using alphabetical stickers designed by KAWS. These were especially designed for kids to learn the ABC and create a message or even their name. The stickers can be placed anywhere on the surface and the best bit - they are reusable to change again and again! Kids can take this little piece of art home.
Kids will love KAWS:PLAYTIME and by looks alone - everyone will! So head to the NGV Melbourne these holidays to experience it with the kids and have some fun because after all it’s PLAYTIME! Thanks Kate for the gorgeous pics x
