Honk! Untitled Goose Exhibition at the ACMI Melbourne - Review
When we visited the ACMI a few weeks back for their latest exhibition The Future & Other Fictions, we dropped in at the Free and fun Honk! Untitled Goose Exhibition. This exhibition is all about the fun and cheeky slapstick videogame with a mischievous goose and the kids and I loved it!
Walk around the exhibition and read about this fun game by Melbourne game developers House House, checkout early sketches and designs, see technical insights, videos and play parts of the game at different stations. This game rose to international success and captured the hearts, minds and humour of children and adults alike when it was released in 2019!
The Untitle Goose Game idea came about from a joke in a group chat between friends, their combine creative backgrounds in film and fine art and comedic influences drawn from Postman Pat to Buster Keaton.
You can play The Backyard part of the game and be the cheeky Goose in the garden and get up to mischievous antics of honking, flapping and stealing.
Or play in The Village and follow the list of tasks such as locking someone in a phone box, stealing cans of food, stealing someone’s glasses, breaking a broom and more!
Miss couldn’t stop laughing at Honk and his attitude and antics, such a cheeky monkey!
People with specialist knowledge of videogames are invited to explore critical design details and gain insight into the game’s technical development through ACMI-made video content.
There are 4 gaming stations in the Honk! Untitled Goose Exhibition so wait your turn, take a seat and have a go at this fun game!
You can also play two House House video games - Untitle Goose Game and Push Me Pull You within the Free Story of the Moving Image Exhibition next door also at ACMI. You can also grab some merch on the way out at the ACMI store and by the looks of it, you can buy one of the games too.
