Mimaru Osaka Namba North with Kids - Osaka - Review
We were recommended the Mimaru Osaka Namba North in Osaka by a friend due to its proximity to the station, shops, restaurants, the market and Dotonbori main hub and convenient stores and we were glad we booked it as it was a super family friendly hotel in Osaka!
Note: Photos and review from our visit in July 2023.
We arrived earlier than the usual 3pm check-in time so the kids cooled down and played some games while we checked-in and gave our suitcases to front desk to keep until our room was ready and we came back from some sightseeing around Osaka. There’s also kids games you can borrow from the front desk during your stay - very cool!
When we arrived in our Loft Bed Apartment, our suitcases had been dropped off by staff which I thought was very lovely! The Loft Bed Apartment has 4 twin beds in total - 2 in loft and 2 on the ground as per photo below. The beds were super comfortable and the aircon was great on the real hot and humid days we had. The apartment has an area with sink, tap and towel hangers as well as a wet room with a shower and a bath and a railing at the back of the bath to use if you need to dry clothes and two towel hangers at the back of the wet room door.
The Loft Bed Apartment had a great kitchen with stove with exhaust fan, basic kitchen appliances such as kettle, toaster, microwave, utensils, plates and glasses etc as well as a good size apartment fridge freezer. It also had a seperate toilet and a closet area for hanging clothes or for drying them with a useful drying rack which I used to dry socks as I didn’t want them to shrink in the dryer. Our room also had a tv, air-conditioner and air purifier.
You can grab some toiletries as well as tea & coffee in the lobby, there’s also a vending machine past the entrance near the lifts. One of the reasons I enjoy Mimaru hotels so much apart from being super family friendly, is the laundry facilities they have onsite. This hotel had 4 washing machines and 4 dryers. You will need 100 Yen coins per wash, my wash at the time I took the photo was 300 Yen.
You can also rent family items such as shower seat, washbasin, step stool, toilet seat for kids, dishes for kids, cutlery set, plug covers, bed guards, baby bed or luggage rack - items are limited but check at the front desk between 7am and 10pm. You can also rent rice cookers, toasters, additional tableware, pajamas, blankets, non-feather pillows, non-feather duvets, etc. As well as irons, ironing boards, extension cords, adapter plugs, vacuum cleaners, umbrellas, nail clippers, thermometers, mobile phone charging cables, HDMI cables, luggage scales, etc. You can also rent cleaning supplies during your stay, ask the staff at the front desk too. They’ve really tried to think of everything they can do to help families and at the time they were trialing luggage transfer between Mimaru hotels - how cool!
We quite liked our stay at the Mimaru Osaka Namba North and the proximity to the station, shops, restaurants, the market and Dotonbori main hub and convenient stores. We were very happy with our apartment and loved the comfy beds and the facilities available onsite. The staff were very family friendly and very responsive during our stay. One staff even helped us prepare for our Disney hotel trip by calling the Disney hotel and the kids loved the games at the counter too.
