#sydney REVIEW - Beauty Rich and Rare currently showing at the Museum of Sydney is a 20 minute projection of the fascinating journey of the Endeavour voyage of 1768–71 by Sir Joseph Banks and the botanists, scientists and illustrators who documented that extraordinary adventure. It was very interesting to watch and understand how the scientists calculated the Transit of Venus with such great accuracy given the times. This astronomical phenomenon only repeats itself every 243 years! It was also fascinating to know that Joseph Banks collected and catalogued over 7,000 plant species in his lifetime and the impact this had on Australia’s extraordinary botanical diversity and medicine. So interesting and beautiful to watch! There is a QR code on the wall within the projection room if you wish to download the written transcript for a later in-depth read. Entry at the Museum of Sydney is FREE and you can visit the colourful Coomaditchie: The Art of Place exhibition while you’re there, kids can do the accompanying Kids Quiz and the colouring activity in the hallway. #beautyrichandrare #museumofsydney #museumofhistorynsw @museumsofhistorynsw
