Romantic Classics with the Sydney Symphony

Some love stories roll through like a storm, rattling windows and soaking the earth. Others glow like embers in a hearth, or stand steadfast as an oak.

To honour the many ways love moves us, conductor James Judd will lead the Sydney Symphony in a very special Valentine’s Day concert embracing the most romantic music ever written.

Prepare for a musical journey that rides giddy highs and exquisite lows. Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet Sleeping Beauty plunges you deep into an exquisite universe, while John Williams sends your spirit soaring to a galaxy far, far away with Across the Stars. And this program wouldn’t be complete without perhaps the most famous love theme in all of music, Wagner’s melting, ecstatic Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde.

In this heady Summer Series event at Sydney Town Hall you’ll also hear music from Rachmaninov, Puccini, Debussy and more; some pieces feel like falling in love, others more like a memory.

Whether you love love, or just want to lose yourself in a musical fantasy for a couple of hours, this concert is made for you. So make it a date, and discover the lush, sensual side of classical music.
