Osmo Little Genius Kit with Early Math Adventure - Review
Little Mister is in preschool at the moment and is learning about letters, numbers, shapes and story telling. In anticipation of him starting kindy/prep next year, I wanted him to try an Osmo kit more suited to his age group 3-5 years.
Although he loves taking part in the other Osmo kits and games, the Osmo Little Genius Starter Kit with Early Math Adventure seemed perfect for him and after playing it for hours, it sure was! He was much more engaged and able to do the various things he was asked to by Mo the Monster and other characters and loved using the 38 silicone sticks & rings provided to make things and the 19 costume pieces to take part in the fun of all 6 games that come with the kit.
The Osmo Little Genius Kit with Early Math Adventure introduces core kindergarten subjects with fun games for kids to take part in. This kit is great for Early Literacy, Fine Motor Skills, Shapes & Counting, Understanding the World, Fun, Social-Emotional and Language & Communication. The kit comes with 38 silicone Sticks & Rings (BPA free, durable, dishwasher-safe silicone), 19 Costume Pieces, Stackable storage containers and Silicone play mat.
Costume Party
Little Mister rushed to use Costume Party as he was very interested in the dress-up concept. Kids will enjoy Costume Party as they can put together an outfit by colouring the person’s skin, dressing them up head to toe for a party and having fun along the way. Great for creativity, spatial reasoning and fine motor.
After little Mister dressed up his character, it made a little cute dance to celebrate!
ABCs > Seb to do
Build letters with colourful sticks and rings with ABCs. Kids can learn over 300 words with ABCs with Mo the friendly Monster as he takes kids on a playful adventure. This game lets kids have fun all while learning how to recognise letters, vocabulary, construction of words and phonics. Perfect for preparation for kindy next year when little Mister will learn to read.
After Mo the Monster called out the first letter and asked little Mister to make it, he took a photo of it and then gave an example how the letter could be used in a word.
Mo then asked if he could create a tent with the shapes too. Mo was happy with little Mister’s tent and moved on to ask what next setting he could use and showed more letters to create words with.
Squiggle Magic
Create a face, an animal or anything you want with Squiggle Magic using sticks and rings and watch things come to life on the screen. Great for creativity and drawing skills.
Definetely fun to make squiggles and shapes out of sticks and circles and seeing animals like little Mister’s fish come to life and swim in the ocean.
Shape Builder > Seb to do
Shape Builder will let your child create a magic mansion out of sticks and rings! They will learn to build shapes, great for shape creation & recognition as well as colour recognition.
After entering a beautiful world, little Mister was asked to create a cookie for the oven. The voice described a circle and lack of sides. Little Mister then created the cookie from a circle which was then baked into cookie for the oven. Then he was asked to create chocolate squares and what a square is.
Little Mister then created a square for the chocolate pieces and then was asked to create another circle for the hazelnut circles. This completed the cookie and it was baked and enjoyed by the oven. The game then asked for more shapes to be created all while describing them. Very clever!
Stories
Play dress-ups with Stories by mixing and matching outfits to fit the storyline, its obstacles and navigate through the adventures this presents. Great for hands-on play, growing confidence, following a storyline using creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
As the story kept going, obstacles came up and little Mister had to dress up his character to adapt like wearing a pirate hat with a parrot to wake up the bear on the way to the party and more. Great for creative thinking.
Counting Town
With Counting Town, kids are introduced to a cute world where they need to use the squishy, colourful sticks and rings provided to practice counting. This cute game is great for kids to get familiar with numbers while creating buildings, bridges and animals. Great to give them confidence to learn and recognise numbers, to count, compare them and problem solve on the fly.
Little Mister was asked to create a bird and sheep out of the shapes to help the farmer and other characters. Little Miss liked the concept too so she couldn’t wait to play with the game after her brother.
Little Mister really enjoyed Osmo Little Genius Kit + Early Math Adventure, there is so much to do, learn and play with this Kit, it will keep the kids busy and learning for some time to come! We will aim at playing this at least once a week to reinforce the concepts from the six different games that comes in the pack.
