The Future & Other Fictions at ACMI Melbourne - Review
Last month, during our Melbourne trip, we visited the super interesting The Future & Other Fictions exhibition at the ACMI Melbourne. Anastasia and her friend also visited the exhibition and really enjoyed it as they could relate to many movie references, clips, concepts and more!
The exhibition features 180 works by global creatives and explores futuristic visions through art, posters, costumes, and interactive displays. The kids and I were very interested to see old posters of movies, tv shows and video games. Some of which took me down memory lane!
Miss loved Björk’s kaleidoscope dress and mask from The Gate.
The Neomad Australian three-episode sci-fi fantasy adventure series and comic book was also on display which we quite liked.
We also enjoyed creating our own futuristic poster using stencils and light work and a scanner to send it to our email and later displayed on the wall at the end of the exhibition.
The most interesting aspect of this exhibition for us was seeing and understanding the costumes from Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which is by far one of my favourite Marvel movies having lived in Africa, I quite enjoyed how the future met traditional aspects.
Other movies showing were Cyberpunk 2077, Blade Runner 2049 and The Creator. Miss loved Björk’s kaleidoscope dress and mask from The Gate.
Mister loved chilling on the big bean bags while watching short clips on the large screen at the end of the exhibition.
The Future & Other Fictions is on now at ACMI Melbourne until Sunday 27th April.
