Osmo Math Wizard - Enchanted World Games - Review

The latest Osmo Math Wizard games are now available as a game bundle. We loved reviewing the Magical Workshop and Secrets of the Dragons games, so we were very happy to be reviewing their NEW games Enchanted World Games and Amazing Airships.

In this review, we take a look at Osmo Math Wizard and the Enchanted World Games. Osmo Enchanted World Games is incorporated in the Osmo Math Wizard app which can be downloaded and comes with a special case with 1 x Lunchbox Mat, 22 x Fruit & Veg pieces, 1 x Juice Mat, 12 x Fruit Strips and 1 x Magical Token.

When we received the two new Osmo games, the kids were so excited, they set everything up and got going while I was cooking dinner so I didn’t get a chance to take photos of the very early stages of the game however I didn’t want to stop them from enjoying it. I had more time observing little Miss last weekend so she let me take some snaps of her doing parts of the game. With every game, parents can setup the level of difficulty of the child at the start and as they go along things get trickier for them.

When playing the Juice Team part of the game, you can select 4 sports - soccer, baseball, basketball and relay running. Little Miss grabbed her Juice Mat, chose the Basketball mini section and started responding to maths problems using the fruit strips provided. In this example, little Miss was faced with 3 giraffes each wanting a number of fruits to make a juice.

Once the correct number of fruit strips is placed on the fruit mat to match the number of fruit each character needed, she received reward points and the character was happy. So for example, the character had a 5 on top of their heads, she needed to use the fruit strips to make 5 within the time provided. Kids can choose from the lime segments strips, cherry strips, blueberry strips or the special magical token which can equate to any number they wish to select for. As she progressed, she received gem points towards shop purchases and the giraffes wanted more fruits and so on.

After the problems are solved, fun games like this Basketball game come up for kids to do. Little Miss is into basketball at school so this was perfect. It shows scoring and adding points to the score and also to the gems rewards score to buy clothes from the store for characters to change into. And for a little more fun, if you touch the snowflake you can turn an opponent into a frozen block to stop them. How cute and fun!

They can then choose a different sport like the below Sprint/Relay running mini section and meet other characters. In this section of the game, they use a different logic. Little Miss was asked to match the number with the fruits and press Submit. Again using the Juice mat, she selected fruit strips required to make a juice which is its name is then showed and fruits blended in the juice blender. The character then drinks and gem points are awarded. Kids can access hints using the question mark which shows the number they need to achieve in dots as well as gives them the option to use gem coins towards a hint.

The trick with this one is matching the number to number of fruits using the strips but also as the game goes it stops you from using certain fruit strips already used so little Miss had to think twice before solving the problem and when she chose the Magical Token, she had to think the value she wanted to use for it too and instead of fruit they turn into jelly beans of sort. Very clever!

As more maths problems are solved, more problems come up, new characters emerge and new levels of maths problem solving can be achieved and little cute games pop up as kids keep solving.

The Soccer mini section also uses a similar technique however the referee tells you when a specific fruit is required. The Baseball mini section also includes the technique of displaying fruit strips but also includes more complex problems which traps a fruit in the cage so kids have to mix the fruit around to avoid the trap.

When playing the BentoBox part of the game, there are a range of sports too: running, archery, swimming, weightlifting (locked until other levels are completed) and jumping (also locked at first).

This time, little Miss had to place the Bentobox mat and follow the maths problem. She chose the archery mini section first so she was shown the type of fruit & veg at the bottom which a number next to them, she then has to choose which one is the best fit before time runs out. For example the question is 7, with option of using grape value 1, apple value 2 or carrot value 1. She chose to use 1 carrot, 2 lots of apple (so total value of 4) and 1 other carrot and 1 grape to make 7.

For the running mini section, a similar concept is taken and a cute mini running game popped up to achieve a Junior Wizard Medal. Little Miss had to make the fox jump to reach a fruit to go faster to eventually win.

The swimming mini section was little Miss’ favourite in cuteness level but was tricky in some parts the referee asks for several numbers to be achieved in three different parts and also the trap element again which traps some fruit & veg pieces. The concept goes along the Bentobox idea which coincides with putting fruit & veg pieces on the mat like a puzzle to fit all the pieces while matching the right number on the screen.

She also enjoyed the super cute swimming race game where the hippo was swimming and had to dive for fruit & veg pieces to go faster and win a Junior Medal.

Osmo Math Wizard and the Enchanted World Games is a clear winner for my kids! Maybe it’s the fruit juice element, the fruit & veg pieces, the bento box or the funny characters but this particular game had the kids fighting over who could use which tray of fruits or veg! Definitely a winner for us in the Osmo Math Wizard arena! Maths without dreading it with fun along the way, your kids will love it!

This game is perfect for kids 6 to 8 years old and will let parents select the maths level where the child is up at the beginning of the game.
